Good News, Everyone! Will Smith is going to star in Sequels to two of his biggest Sequels:
If they can bring Tea Leoni back to Bad Boys, I might be interested ... :pac:

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I can't wait for Bad Boys 3, say what you want about the first two but they were bloody entertaining and full of enough great moments to make it all worthwhile. People argue that the second one could have lost the final thrid but I did enjoy watching them tear another country apart. Far too many action films clock in around the 80 minute mark so to have a film which by rights should be all cleared up and over at the 100 minute mark turn around and deliver another 40 minutes of action at least it's a pretty nice return on the bang for your buck so to speak.

MIB 3 is one of those films I'll watch in time but won't be in any rush to. I do love Tommy Lee Jones and the mark 2 version of him, Josh Brolin so you never know, a decent trailer would get me into the cinema.

The Smithequel (may catch on) I'm most anticipating has to be ID42. It just looks and sounds bombastic beyond belief and say what you want about Roland Emmerich he knows to get your jaw on the floor by delivering spectacle the likes of which has never been seen before. Be nice if he and Dean Devlin would hurry up with their long promised Stargate sequel, every time one attends a convention or talks up their new film they inevitably mention Stargate 2 and yet were no closer to seeing it than we were ten years ago,

Bad Boys 3 will be EPIC.

Simply remove your brain before you go the cinema, leave it in the fridge and make sure you have enough money for a large coke and an extra large popcorn.

    Cant bloody wait.

Thank you for that well thought out and detailed analysis of the work of Michael Bay. :pac:

He really is a director who cal polarise an audience, you either love the guy or hate him. There seems to be no inbetween.

Am I the only one who isn't excited about these then?

I'd rather they put money towards new projects, instead of crappy sequels.
MIB2 is one of the worst films that I have ever seen, why they would go out and make another one is beyond me, it's most likely going to be atrocious.

To be honest the last good film I think Smith was in was probably Enemy of the State back in 98.
But that's just personal opinion, I don't rate him at all as an actor.

According to IMDB, Smith is also pencilled in for Independence Day 2&3, Hancock 2 and I Robot 2.
Quite a crappy legacy he is building for himself there.

I thought he was excellent in I Am Legend. I would have never rated him before watching that. Agree with you that he's building a questionable legacy for himself with all these Smithequels though.

Haven't seen Bad Boys, due to my michaelbayphobia, but my inner 12-year-old is really looking forward to MIB3.

    Seven Pounds?

I think he's a very capable actor, but just gets paid to play the same character over and over again because that's what the popcorn munching masses seem to love...

Eh.....I was going to agree with you but then remembered they ruined Handcock one with a ridiculous ending

    Seven Pounds? Really?
He might be a capable enough actor, but he was certainly not good in that.
Might just be me with my high standards, but the guy has never played a role that has ever made me sit up and take notice.

He's far too much in that A-list, money driven world to ever produce anything other than fluff.
Johnny Depp's career started out something similar to Smith's, but he managed to become an actor, unlike Smith.

But Johnny Depp has been playing the same character for over a decade. His last great role in which he actually acts was Ed Wood and that was a long time ago. Since then we've seen flashes of his talent but it's generally been the same quirkly character recycled film from film.

I think I heard that was in the early stages of pre-production? Or maybe the director just had an 'idea' or something, I dunno! Wouldn't rule it out though.

I have a vague interest in MIB3. I adored the first one when I was younger, although the sequel was utter rubbish. That said, I still have an interest in the characters on a purely nostalgic level, so I'd definitely check it out.

As for Bad Boys 3, *insert 'long, cynical rant about Michael Bay being the worst thing to happen to cinema in a long time' here*

I would make a case for Donnie Brasco and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as good acting performances.
Plus, although Depp does play some very similar roles (mainly due to his links to Burton), he is still quite a versatile actor.

Plus, at least he has amazing performances under his belt, such as Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood, while Smith has nothing really.
His best films are a toss up between Independence Day, Bad Boys, Men in Black and other similar tripe.

what about blow as well for example?

i would think it a bit of a no brainer that depp is still a good few notches above the fresh prince in terms of ability at least, even if he doesnt always make full use of it

but then again i guess theyre all just opinions

Ali, Seven Pounds, Pursuit of Happyness and even the Legend of Bagger Vance all show an actor who can more than hold his own as a serious dramatic actor. While I agree that Smith has turned into something of a take the pay check and run acotr like Depp when called upon he can still give a performace up there with the best of them.
