    Howdy,

Hypothetical situation, you're back filling out your CAO, would you pick your course again ? If your course suddenly disappeared, what would you do ?

I am doing Computer Science and I definitely think I would do it again. Might study a bit more though ! ;)

If it disappeared I'd probably do electrical engineering, I'd give some thought to Biochem, Speech and Language Therapy and Health Informatics in UL too ! Oh, and Medical Physics in NUIG !

    How about you?

In second year elec eng now and I can truly say that if I could go back I would not do a different course. It certainly isn't an easy course but I like what it covers and there is a great relationship between the class and lecturers. Love the fact that it is a small class as well, so I would know and get on with everyone in the class. This is also a positive when it comes to assignements, as it can be a bit of a group effort to get them done:D. Also, putting what I have learned to good use in making my own effects pedals for guitar! Overall, love the course.

That sounds brilliant ! What kind of effects pedals have you made ?! :D

Always loved the stuff people in Elec Eng do !

I'm in 2nd BIS at the moment. I've a serious love hate relationship with it! If I could go back and do it all again I'd put nursing or midwifery down as my first choice, regardless if BIS was still there. A good few of my friends are doing general nursing and I'd often look at there notes and books and wish I'd put it down!

Well, just sourcing parts for my first one now, gonna be a tube boost pedal. Just following a schematic of the internet in order to get a grounding in tubes, but then gonna apply that knowledge to designing my own tube distortion pedal. Just waiting for the exams to finish now so that I can get started on it.

I think I would probably do the same thing. Though, I really would love to have done maths and computer science but unfortunately that's not a degree here so I would have to go somewhere else.

Well, I've gone back to do psychology now, straight after I finished a neuroscience degree. Doing it all over again, I think I'd still have applied to Edinburgh, but I would have either applied to psychology, or changed my degree course in second year when I was given the chance. Ah well, I'm still getting where I want to be, just slower.

Definitely would pick my current course. No doubt about it. Nothing else would suit me. Just wouldn't have picked French in first year. Disasterous.

In BIS2 as well. I like the course, but if I went back I haven't a clue what I'd put down. Think I have gone for something similar in Limerick or Galway though, or maybe looked at a few courses in england or Scotland. Would have been interesting to have to go away and really do everything for myself like that, instead of staying at home. I'd like to know how I would have survived that, assuming I did survive it...

I think I still would have done my course, Maths Science. I definitely wouldn't have picked the two physics electives though. I definitely would have gone to more lectures though... I'm not even sure if I like the course because I don't really know what some parts are even about....

If I was to pick something else, it'd probably have been Energy or Elec Eng, or something along those lines.

Would have applied to a few English and Scottish Universities. Looking back I actually more than met the qualifying criteria for a few of them. I just didn't want to get into a lot of debt over a short period of time.

Second Year PE, and I'd be going back doing the same course again with maths, except I'd probably try to go to more of my maths tutorials and not pick MS2012 as my option this year - the most enjoyable lectures but find it tough to study!

Might do the same course, even though I don't really like it.But I would not do the Finance module in BIS2.It's horrible.

I'm doing Computer Science as well. I really do like it and I'd say I would choose the same course again if I were back filling out the CAO. I also like the idea of doing English or Psychology, something like that, but I think CS is more suited to me.

However, I would certainly try to put more work in and definitely not pick Chinese as my elective, but go with German instead, if I had the choice again!

Doing English And History and I love both of them! Although I always had this notion of doing genetics in my head?! Glad I picked English and History over it though because as time goes on I realise more and more that science was definately not a good option for me. Seeing what my housemates study its became clear that my interpretation of studying science was very different from reality, just not my cup of tea. Its hard to think that I changed my CAO from genetics No. 1 to Arts no. 1 two days before the deadline! Definately glad I made that decision, even though the Arts bashing thing really annoys me! :pac:

Honestly don't know what I'd do if I was given another chance. Part of the reason I picked my course is because it seemed like the least objectionable one I had on my list. I have a serious love/hate relationship with it, but I don't think I'd do anything else tbh.
Apart from maths and science, the only subject I always loved in school was Geography, so maybe a degree in that would have suited me.

I'm in 1st year Arts now, I'm planning to do an Economics degree. I did Accounting the year before. Looking back, I wish I applied to do Physiotherapy in England. That is the plan when I graduate.

Hmmm....one of those abstract courses like Drama and Theatre studies could have been fun :pac:

I'm extremely happy with my course, but I often kick myself for not putting more thought into the course in International Development; I think it would be really interesting for me.

From about first year of secondary school i knew i wanted to do something with business. Briefly flirted with idea of accounting until i realised it would make me suicidal with boredom. From about Junior Cert year i was pretty set on doing Commerce and all these years later i'm delighted with my choice. Honestly couldn't see myself doing anything else

If I went back....I would probably do earth sciences or something.

Wouldnt change a thing. Well unless I had worked a tad bit harder on the Leaving Cert and gotten the points for the undergrad in teaching, but since Im going to be doing the post grad I still get what I want just have to wait an extra year to achieve it!

Would have put down CS and or food science instead of BIS !

If I had the same frame of mind that I have now back in secondary school, I would have done biology and physics without a doubt. Looking back I have no idea why I didn't do biology as one of my leaving cert subjects. Oh well.

I did International Development and wouldn't change a thing; even if 4 years did seriously test my attention span.

Think I'd do fine art, decided the more academic route with English and History of Art but it's always there at the back of my mind:)

Going into fourth year in Elec Eng and if was back staring at my CAO form knowing what i do now there is no way in hell i would go through the course again. Don't get me wrong im fairly happy i did the course and the class is a fairly close knit group but i couldnt go through all that work again

I did Fine Art which I'm glad I did, but I followed that with a diploma in Graphic Design which if I had my time over again I woulda done something like Biology or Lifesciences, something with more employability/better pay options.
