My passport expires at the end of July 2010, so it will still be in date by the time I go. However, a friend told me today that you can't use a passport in certain countries that is to expire within six months. Would I be okay or not?

I would send it in to the passport office now and will if I have to.. but I'm just worried I wouldn't get it back in time!

It's covered in the passport sticky, however as it's a serious case od tl:dr now, the quick answer is that if you hold an EU passport it IS valid for use within the EU right up to the expiry date.
