WRT54GS as a wireless extender?

Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone could help me...

I recently purchased a Linksys WRT54GS router which I loaded with the DD-WRT v24-sp2. I wanted to use it as a wireless bridge and range extender. So far I have managed to get it working as a bridge. I have connected it wirelessly to my wifi network (from a vodafone bewan modem) and attached a device to it though ethernet in order to connect it to my network.

What I haven't managed is to configure it as an extender, to extend the range of my wireless network and to allow devices to be connected to it wirelessly. Any ideas? Is it possible or am I just wasting my time?

On the wireless setup I have selected the "repeater bridge" option, with the ssid and security settings of my wifi. Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks in advance
