    Here on Google Maps.

According to Google, the next one west is Clondalkin/Fonthill and the next one east is Cherry Orchard/Park West and according to the IE timetable there is no station in between.

It must be the new Cherry Orchard Station mentioned below.
It looks like the new Clondalkin Station can also be seen under construction on Google Maps.

    http://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre/news.asp?action=view&news_id=168
"Kildare Route Project Railway Order process underway"

"WHAT NEW STATIONS WILL BE BUILT?
There are 3 existing stations along the route of the Kildare Route Project – Cherry Orchard, Clondalkin and Hazelhatch. It is proposed to relocate the existing Cherry Orchard station 900m west to a new station at Parkwest. (This new station will be built separately to the Kildare Route Project by a developer under a planning permission application).
It is also proposed to relocate Clondalkin station 700m west to a new station at Fonthill Road.
New stations will be constructed at Kishogue and Adamstown. (Adamstown station will be built separately to the Kildare Route Project by a developer under an existing planning permission).
    Hazelhatch station will be upgraded.
It is proposed that all of these stations, new and upgraded, will be manned in the future and include improved facilities such as full accessibility, toilet facilities, sheltered seating, ticket vending machines and emergency call points."

It is. Google Maps is just showing the old Cherry Orchard station location.

I'd be peeved it my local station was closed and re-opened almost a kilometre away, esp if I was already say a 20 min walk from it.

From a local I know up that way very few people ever used Cherry Orchard station when it was there. Anyway KRC plans on line it was due to be demolished to allow it's progress and it makes sense to have a station in Parkwest; it's about 500 metres up track.

As Ham'nd'egger says the old station had very low patronage from the local community. Most of the users were working in Parkwest. As a former member of the latter category I can confirm this! The main usage from the locals was as somewhere to hold drinking parties I'm afraid.

The new station is getting far better usage being right beside the apartments in Parkwest and the Business Park.

I used the new station a bit back in '08 and occasionally in '09.

The timetable wasn't the best though.

Typical IE. Clearly a demand for a bar in Cherry Orchard/Parkwest station, and what do they do... move the bloody station.

I'd be a bit peeved if I came home one day and found they'd moved Leixlip Confey down the tracks to Lucan. You can't just move train stations on people!

That is Park West and Cherry Orchard station.

The old station was Cherry Orchard and Parkwest.

    The proper spelling is "Parkwest".

There is a subtle difference - the people using Leixlip Confey live nearby.

None of the locals used the old station - it was used by people working in Parkwest who now have a far better located station.

I wasn't really being serious, but while on the subject people who are using Confey station are coming from as far away as Lucan (as unkle used to), and Dunboyne.
