Cheating at election votes

My mother's friend (an Irish woman living in the UK) admitted to us that she cheated in the election yesterday. She went and used her vote in the morning to vote Lib Dem. In the evening when different people were working at the polling station, she went back and used her daughter's polling card (the daughter is away at university a short distance away and couldn't be arsed to go home to vote) to vote Lib Dem again. Now I wonder how many other people do this. I was tempted to use my absent sister's card to vote Conservative twice, but I just didn't dare!

I normally get two polling cards here...one to my parents place and one to my own place...I'd say there are thousands of people in the same situation.

Do you not have to show your passport or driving license as ID when you vote?

Because in a democracy, some people are more equal than others.

    Typical Lib Dem.

Can't even commit minor crimes decisively without abject hand-wringing and doubt.

That's more down to the general public being fucking morons than electoral fraud.

well, I can safely say it's the same in Ireland.

I got a polling card for the referendum last year, even though I shouldnt have since I'm a foreigner (and when I put my name on the electoral register, I never indicated I was anything but, so whatever happened was definitely not my fault)...Heard a lot of stories like that - people here getting two cards, people who shouldn't have voted did, etc.

I wonder if one could contest the last general election here, based on that...
