I thought Renault used to sponsor this? Say 10-5-01 this morning and it was a Merc E200. A bit of a step up from a laguna!

I wonder is it a sponsored car?

ANy other decent lord mayors cars out there??

Wasn't there a "green" Golf for a time too?

I saw it a couple of days ago. He only got an E-Class Merc.
They could have alteast given him an S-Class but guess the Recession has hit him as well...

I remember a couple of years ago he had a Citroen C6 didn't he?

That was when we had a "Green" mayor and he told Volvo( who where the official suppliers at the time) to F off and bought some POS Golf.

I think they have to lease or buy the cars now, the days of sponsorship are gone due to the possibility of corruption or favouritism towards a particular brand.

Lord Mayor of Dublin never had a Laguna. They had a Renault Vel Satis up to 2007, then an E-Class after.

Car is on a sponsored lease from MB Ireland, and the only cost to the City is for the Driver.

Its a great deal for both parties, as MB get free advertising and the Lord Mayor gets a free car.

It was'nt a Laguna, it was Vel satis till they stopped being made then an Espace.

I aslways assumed it was the choice of he Lord Mayor and it was Renaults because that's what he wanted at the time.

94 (iirc) D1 Volvo used to pass me on the Greenhills road every mornign when I used to go that way to work a couple of years back.

EDIT. BAH! Lauder got here first.

I remember a couple of years ago he had a Citroen C6 didn't he?

The hero that is Barry Andrews has a C6 as his car, or at least had until recently but I assume still does.

why does someone who gets a house in the city centre need to also get a car? They work for the city, what part of the job requires a car? It not like a minister who lives in a different city.
