After looking at buying my new car (Volvo V50) I saw that it has this plastic pop in and turn key type affair.

So I thought I better keep it seperate from the house/back gate etc keys.

So do you do the same ?
Just I see a few threads here every so often with "broken key in ignition" and can't help but think it was the statoil/pink bunny rabbit/bottle opener crazy crap keyring that did it :)

I always keep my keys together. Why carry two sets?

Also, I had a Volvo and the key is certainly manky but I wouldn't keep it separate from any other keys.

Objects hanging on the key chain can cause serious damage to a knee in a collision too:eek:

House Keys, Car Keys, Shed Keys, Office Keys all on the one bunch. It's the only way I can achieve a bulge in the trouser pocket area :o

I need 2 keys to get into my apartment and I have to lock the door behind me then it goes into the glove compartment. I hate crap in my pockets so it's just the car key and alarm fob.

Always keep the car key separate, the jangling keys attached to it would annoy me going over bumps, or scratch the dash (I have a Volvo with its different ignition slot location too OP)

Now I just have a little tag with my name/phone number attached to it.

I have an S40 with the same key (looks like a TV remote) but doesn't cause me any grief over my old conventional car keys. The key is actually well built and sturdier than it looks ,they do cost around €210 to replace and recode though.

Would not bother with two sets of keys as you are more likely to loose one set. I believe that if you have one big bunch of keys you are more likely to hear them fall than say two small bunches. Hell I have a number of keys on my keyring that I haven't a clue what they open but I know Murphy's law would kick in if I threw them away, I will most likely need them 5 mins later.

3 house keys, 4 keys per mini (x 2), 1 key for the Almera and a few random keys. I feel like a warden at times!

Went through my keys around 6 months ago. Had two padlocks keys for a gate that no longer existed and a key to a stone shed that fell down a few years back.

Even now I have a key for a suitcase I never use.

I keep them on the same key ring, that way I only have to search for one set of keys.

I keep them seperated simply for when I'm out without the car there is no risk of me losing the house and car keys at the same time.

House Key, Office Key, Honda Key, Volvo Key, Tesco Clubcard, Work Keyring, Stig Keyring, USB Memory Stick. Have to find trousers with large pockets.

Thankfully the Honda Key is much smaller than my old Octavia key so it's a bit easier.

I'm a bit of a key hoarder. Currently on my desk I have keys for 5 new focus's, 1 new tourneo, 2 new passat's, a new Tiguan, an 07 Santa Fe, an 08 9-3 and a key off some sort of unidentified Merc. Suspect it's a 2006 E280cdi, but won't find out until that comes back.

I used to till a while ago when I stopped driving my car because I've gotta study for my exams. So Now I only carry my house key.
Once I'm done with my exams, I'll probably add the car key to my house key... Or I might wait till I pass my driving test...

Bike key & keyring on one set, everything else on a separate bunch in my pocket.

Keys rattling off the dash annoy the hell outta me.

2 car keys + fob on one set, house keys, locker keys and car boot key on the other.

    Car key with one keyring.
House key/ deadlock key / garage key / teeny torch with a keyring.
Would drive me mental having a bunch of keys hanging at the steering wheel, plus I hate too many things on one set.

Keys for my Dublin and Amsterdam flats on one keyring.

Keys for the car (x2) are kept in Dublin on separate rings. I like to keep the car key separate and not have a big bundle of keys hanging from the ignition.

Car key, 2x house keys (one home house and one for where I'm renting), key for drawer at work and two bike lock keys which are both of no use anymore all on the same key ring.

I have to keep them together otherwise I would always be forgetting one or the other.

My car keys and house keys have been separate for years now because I only need my car keys when I'm taking my car. Which is not (that) often.

Plus my car key is now a thick credit-card sized yoke which would just be a pain on my keyring.

Definitely separate, a lot less hassle if you lose one set. Just so long as you dont leave your house keys in your car along with anything with your address on, in case your car is broken into. Might sound a little paranoid but better safe than sorry and it's not that much trouble to keep them separate and on your person!

Keep my front door key on fob for car so only two keys. Only put house key back onto car key when we changed cars.

When I had the golf I had no other key on it and found myself locked out (by Wife taking house keys :( ) too many times.

Other keys and work keys are kept in two separate bunches.

8 keys, a keyring, a radiator bleeding key and my car key.

I'd be lost if I didn't have all my keys together.
