There is no way to tell without knowing the efficiency of the speakers - how loud a sound they can produce when driven with 1 watt of power.

The efficiency was no listed in the specs.

If buying over the net without being able to hear a product, I personally would get an iPod music station from a reputable manufacturer with a reputation for producing decent sounding gear.

Something like an iGroove HG (They reportedly have excellent sound quality.) for £69 from Amazon, which the specs say can produce 98db sound volume http://www.amazon.co.uk/Klipsch-iGroove-Speaker-compatible-charges/dp/B003DV6T5S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273219678&sr=1-3

How loud is 98db? - slightly louder than a lawn mower but a bit less than a train.

That looks great, does anywhere online selling similar ones accept laser? I know Amazon doesn't.

    Thanks for your help
