    Hi, what do you think is better for firing off unsolicited CVs to random companies, email or snail mail? For science qualifications if that makes any difference...

    Email definately! stamps are expensive.
    If your not sure of hr email address ring reception + ask, no harm getting hr name too, you can always put in end of cover letter that you will follow up with phone call next day, be prepared to sell yourself. (not all hr will talk to you so prepare for rejection + go next)

    TBH I think email is pretty good, I have send off plenty of unsol emails lately, and I generally get replies, and email is so widely used now I think once you have a good covering email with your cv attached it should get through. Maybe try and send it to a manager/hr person if you can get access to their email address

    i cant remember the last time i sent off a C.V by snail mail:) e-mail seems to be the way.besides i write like a 3 year old:Dnot that didnt stop me getting jobs as a manager.

    Depends on the industry I suppose
    I have spent a fortune on stamps and A4 envelopes lately and got a good reply (though nothing solid...yet...) but thats kind of how things are done in this industry
    If they have a dedicated HR department e-mail will be fine. But if not I think it might be more worth your while to post, that way someone will definitely hold your cv and letter in their actual hands instead of just leaving it on a computer where it might get lost or forgotten about

    Also. I would always try to e-mail the boss if there is no HR rather than info@... or sales@.... ect. People who are in fear of their own jobs may not pass on the CV to the boss.
