    Hi all,
I've been looking into sky tv packages and I'm impressed so far. I have the basic ntl at the moment with the broadband service as well as 2 extra poinrs upstairs. I was just wondering will i be left with those extra points from ntl? What way does sky put the cable in? i mean do they use ntl's exsisting box(inside the house) or do they put a different point in? I want to keep the 2 points upstairs.. Has anyone any experience with this situation? I would love to hear from you! Thanks!:)

They will install a satellite dish and run cable from the dish to the tv point.

They will also install a new stb (set top box) for use on the satellite system.

the existing points can be used as they are now (as long as you are paying for them)

If you want to cancel ntl and have 2 extra points upstairs you have a few choices.
Multiroom (you pay extra for each connection every month)

or freesat boxes for extra rooms, you will have to get these installed separately and you wont be able to get RTE on them ,

Hope that helps a bit .

UPC charge a penalty if you only take BB from them. Last time I looked it was either 6 or 8 Euro per month.

However, if you live in an area with analogue tv, my understanding is that they are unable to stop the tv signal coming in the cable!!!!!!!

Actually i should have said i only have anolouge tv with them @ 49.50 for 2months & bb light @ 59.00, my bill for the 2 is 108.50euro. I do need the extra points upstairs for the bb, and ei9go your right atm i have the cable split for my boys tv and the bb. Thats why i was wondering what proccedure would they take with the cables as i'll still need them but i wouldn't be into paying extra 6 or 8 euro on top of what im paying. I dont think sky do bb in Ireland atm but i am happy enough with ntls. Also just seen that i have to give ntl 30days notice to cancel their service..:( I'm going to give sky a ring fairly soon (maybe today!) :)

Just a little update.. I rang up ntl and i upgraded to their Digital+ for just an extra 1euro! Plus i will have lots more channels than what i have now & the option to pause, rewind tv etc.. it seemed like the best choice for me as i am keeping their broadband. They said they'll drop out the box to me on Tuesday. I told them i would install it myself, saves me 20euro & they said it was a fairly easy process. Looking forward to it now as there will be an extra 28+ channels,:) I hope i made the right decesion now! Thanks for all the help you guys! Just hope the box is easy to install!;)

Hi, prob too late but I have bb with UPC (ntl) & sky tv - works out at 38 for bb (15mbps) & 26 for sky pm - I would never get upc tv tbh, VERY confusing interface & slow to use... bb good though.
