I understand the format is devised on a nerdish, poindexter tittilation as such, but does anyone find it terribly back-slapping? And staged, as such, as in the questions presented are already researched, at least by the team captains. It only really gets interesting when the invited guest(s) 'surprises' Stephen with an answer, namely Johnny Vegas and Joe Brand that I've noted.

There are no team captains. Only Alan Davies is there every week the rest come and go and all are equally open to insight or stupidity.

Apparently this is the case. I know someone who knows, kind of thing. Similar to Mock the Week. I'm confused that you're confused. Bless.

Well, they can't be expected to know everything, especially the kind of obscure stuff that's asked in QI. It would surprise me if they didn't do research beforehand.

The questions that are asked are usually intentionally misleading, though. For example, "How many brains did the man with two brains have?" was really a question about the nervous system in the gut being seperate from the rest of the central nervous system. Even if you had a chance for research beforehand, you would be hard-pressed to come up with an answer like that.

I have no doubt large parts of it a pre-written. Some extremely stupid people seem extremely smart on the programme.

Johnny Vegas ruins Qi. He's like some dope from After hours blagged his way onto it.
