I broke my iPhone

Had it about three days and it slipped from my loving hands and cracked its beautiful face on the pavement.
Thank Jebus I have insurance but I was wondering, would it still be under warranty? Does that count when I've smashed its screen? Also, it's not impossible that it may have got a little bit wet in which case the warranty is void anyway so I'll have to use the insurance.
So, I got the phone and insurance with o2. Does anybody have any experience with sending the phone to be fixed? Does it take a long time and do you get a replacement? Will my phone ever dance the samba again?
    Thanks!

Afaik o2 insurance specfically excludes screen damage and the fee to replace it is 300.

    Yes he is.
There's nothing in the T&Cs referring to screen damage.

    Warranty doesn't cover accidental damage.

Call Ccity, they do screen replacements and they are no where near 300 beans!!!

Yep I cracked mine at the weekend, just the outer screen, I rang Ccity and they can replace the screen for €65.

    Oh - good stuff.
I checked with o2 and they said that, whilst the insurance does cover screen damage, I can't use it until I've had my phone for two months. May check out Ccity although I'm inclined to see if I can wait for the two months as it's still working at the moment.

I thought the 2 month thing was only if you took out the insurance after you already had the phone? If you got the insurance at the time of buying, isnt it covered right away? Or is that just the cpw/liveline cover?
Check what the excess is as well, could be cheaper to replace cover for 65 if the excess is high.

€65 is a far better option than a cracked screen for 2 months.. Well, I think it is anyway ;)

the o2 insurance should cover it, I don't think they care about damage screen or how it got damaged (I know of one case where a helpful toddler put an iPhone down the thankfully empty toilet, and o2 Insurance replaced it).

I, on the other hand, didn't have insurance and called Apple for a repair - even though the phone still had hardware warranty cover, the smashed screen wasn't covered. For €240 they would replace it for you though.

That said cccity and wefixpcs.ie do a great job of repairing damaged screens for about €70-ish.
    Hope that helps

I got mine in Compuworld in Dun Laoghaire yesterday. It costs €75 for the iphone 3g, but they're doing a thing on facebook that if you mention the Compuworld facebook you get €10 off. So cost me a total of €65.

    Ipod-rescue.com
65€ and done the same day it arrives.

Is there any chance you may be affiliated with them? :D

Does changing screen with Ccity invalidate the warranty etc?

Only reason I ask is that if it does then there is no point in continuing to pay for insurance when ultimately they are going to decline your claim anyhow.
