taxing question

I have been working as a self employed contractor for the past 18months in IT. Prior to that I was a PAYE worker for the previous 10 years. I am now taking up a PAYE position. My first set of tax returns are/were due at the end of this year.

What do I need to do to switch back to the PAYE system. Do I have to now declare myself to be no longer self employed and them complete my tax returns as usual at the end of this year?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've never been in such a situation before. Thanks.
