Can I keep my Belgian Licence ?

    Hi all,

I did my driving test here in 2000. While living in Belgium I surrendered my Irish licence for a Belgian one, made it easier to get about. The good thing about Belgian licences is that there is no expiry date, as the guy who issued it to me said " its expires when you do ".

So my question, can I keep the Belgian licence or do I need to renew my Irish one. My insurance policy shows an EU Licence.

Yes, but there's a bit of a gotcha for licences that don't have an expiry date. See this thread here http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055902814

    Alun,
Thanks for that. Since I've came back in 2005 I've spent at least 6 months overseas so it should be good until 2014 based on the 10 year rule since issued in Belgium.
