I'm arriving into Heathrow around 1pm off an Aer Lingus flight, I have a long haul BA flight about 7 hours later. I wonder is it possible to check in my luggage after arriving as I would like to get out of the airport for a while.
The flight bookings were done seperatley so it's probably not possible to get it checked through.

Should you be unable to check in your bags straight away, bigger airports always have luggage storage facilities. You can drop your bags there for a few hours and go explore.

You can check it for a BA flight 72 hours before online.

I don't think there is any issue doing an early bagdrop.

BA will only take your bags 3 hours before your flight.

I'm not sure if there is a left luggage facility any more. I think they got rid of them due to safety concerns, but I'm not certain about that.

Even though the flights aren't on the one ticket you might be able to get Aer Lingus to check the bags through for you if you get someone nice at the desk. It can be done, they have done it for me previously.

Thanks lads. I just googled 'Heathrow left luggage' there, and seemingly that facility is there in all the terminals. I hadn't thought of it.
    You still in C.T. Shanagarry?

not just check your bags all the way through?

Two seperate tickets: Aer Lingus' official policy is not to check through unless the flights are part of one booking.
