    Hi there

I'm a past pupil of Greystones CBS as we called it then and I'm trying to contact any guys from the early 60s era. Christian Brothers names were, Br. King nickname (chewie), Br. Power (G.A.A) man, Br. Donavon nickname(dasie), Gerry O' Sullivan teacher, Br. Walshe. I don't want to mention any names of pass pupils, but hopefully someone of that era will turn up. I played football and hurling for Br. Power over the years I was there. I was in a class with a guy called Michael Hoey who then lived in the lower part of Windgater to Red Ford, I'm mentioning his name as I believe he passed away some years ago......
    Well here goes?

    Hi Tail Wagger,

Lots of nostalgia here on the Old Greystones thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055417965

Plenty of memories of St. Kevin's; past pupils etc.

It is on the Charlesland Greystones Boards

Hope you find some thing of interest here.

Hi , Do you remember the days when St. Kevin's won the Cuala league year after year. I had Br. Power in 5th. class and Br. King in 6th. Daisy in 4th. Our class never had a master but Mr. Ryall was there at the time. 2nd. year we had Br. Walsh and 3rd. year it was Br. Brierton (Charlie) I think I have them in the correct classes :p

Thanks for coming back with your reply, King (6th) Power (5th) Daisy(4th) Sullivan (3rd) Walsh (2nd) & Br.Forde same year in(2nd)..
I was part of the under 12s na Fianna & 13s, we won two cups in the one season in 62/63 season... aldo by the time I got to 6th class King had retired half way through the term, we always said we drove him mad.

Daisy used to collect all the silver paper and stamps for the missions, all the Christian Brothers back then were tough boyos, you'd get 10 of the best for looking out the window.

I attended 1954 - '59. Daisy (Bro Donovan) 2nd class; Gabby Hayes, 3rd; Bro "Spud" Murphy 4th AND 5th, God help us; and the great, great Bro Jack Callaghan - Head Bro - in 6th. Jack was astounded at our absence of learning from the previous two years. Does anyone remember being taken aside by Jack to be told the facts of life? He would say if the other boys asked what we were talking about, just to say 'Smeara Dubha'. That is probably why blackberries have been my favourite food ever since! (Having been an altar boy at Big Bray, I, of course, already had a version with [surprisingly] some similarities!)
