So good people of boards, do you confide more in your friends or family?

I only ask because I'm finding more and more that I trust my closest friends more than my family... to the point where i think of my friends more as family...

So what about you lot?

I don't confide in anyone. I keep it all bottled up and to myself. Don't trust anyone...

my best friends, of which there are two - know pretty much everything there is to know about me and as such, will always be my friends,lol

they are the family that you choose

Friends mostly, but my brother for some stuff (as he's a mate, not just a sibling). It's not that I don't trust my family, more for other reasons, e.g. I wouldn't feel comfortable, don't want to be worrying them, etc.

Easier to talk to friends than family about what is bothering you most I think. However, found out that when the chips are really down, and when you get really sick, your friends might visit you in hospital, but who does all the messy stuff for you? That's right, your family!! It's a really good test!

Friends mostly.

Its not that I don't get on with my family, I do, but they are much older than me, as in my closest sibling is 11 years my senior.

My closest friends know the substances that I may (or may not) have taken, any trouble I've been in, the real reason why I quit one of my jobs, etc.

My family know nice things about me, and know my medical conditions. The only person outside my family that knows that is herself (and her ma, cause she tells her everything) and my bestest friend, and I only told him cause we were pissed.

I used confide in my local priest.

He would help me through all my problems if I carried out a few favours for him.

However he seemed to stop once I reached the age of 12.

And the survey says? EEEEHHHHHH, wrong answer.

Short answer, went out after work, got twisted, was supposed to be on the early shift the next day, cut to me having 50 missed calls, and being 6 hours late for work on one of the busiest days we ever had. Then ****ed off home when the next shift came in, even though they were still in the ****s.

Family think I just didn't like the place.

Friends, because my family's way of dealing with anything is to make a huge joke about it - which is incredibly annoying.

Has to be my mam, the only person i would trust and even then only when i really really need someone to talk to ... Other than that i am not very good at confiding in others. Generally keep stuff to myself, which isn't healthy i know but i find it hard to trust people. Actually i just like to write it down just to get it out of my system and then i rip it up helps me feel better..
