hi, can someone please put me straight, it is playing on my mind all day everyday, here goes! i went to see a solicitor 2005 and he began a claim on my behalf for personal injury, 3yrs later he goes bust! i finally chased my file 1yr later 2009, another solicitor is looking after it now. we went to court march 2010 my barister negotiated a sum of money, with the mutual fund thing, or the bust solicitors insurer, who in turn have to agree the sum. am i being taken for a ride or what is going on? does it really take this long? i did feel guilty initially making the claim, is this my punishment? it is a genuinly honest claim for a nasty injury, i have rang a few yimes but no updates as of yet, does any of this sound right to you? its gone on so long now its depressing to me! thanks

Without getting into the ins and outs of your claim, 3 years is fairly typical for a personal injury claim. The more aggravated the injuries, the longer a case can take to reach conclusion. So to answer does it take this long? sometimes yes, and sometimes longer!

You could explain to your solicitor that you are unhappy and that you want a client case report on where things are at the moment. If in turn you are still unhappy with that reply, the law society may be able to assist you.
