    CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE:D

I want to apply for a medical card cause am gone on a 3 day week but they need proof of my rent. The problem is i live with a friend and pay the rent to them so they are not a registered landlord.

Is there anyway of doing this without affecting my friend

I know if i can't put my rent on the form there is def no chance of getting it or even a GP card.

They are looking for a letter from my landlord giving proof of what i pay, i can get that no bother but its weather it will affect my friends benefits as i think they are on the sick/dole

If your friend is on Jobseekers Benefit, the amount they receive in rent from you will not be assessed against them, but it could well be if their Benefit has run/runs out and they transfer to Jobseekers Allowance. This document gives information on how renting out a room in your home affects your tax and any social welfare payments:

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/housing/owning-a-home/home-owners/rent_a_room_scheme

    It states in part:

Effect of rental income on social welfare payments

If you are getting a means-tested social assistance payment from the Department of Social and Family Affairs, any rental income you get will be assessed as means and may effect your payment. However, rental income will not be assessed as means, if you are getting an State Pension (Non-Contributory) or Widow's/Widower's (Non-Contributory) Pension and you would be living alone unless you rented out a room in your home.

Yes i think it might be the sick he is on so therefore it would affect his payment. Thanks a mill for your help :D
