Current insurer (Quinn) won't quote on an S2000. Couldn't be specific why, but speculation is that it's because it's a convertible (tho she commented on engine power vs displacement).

    Suggestions?

Try using a broker, with a car like an s2000 it can help a lot

I had a reasonable renewal from Aviva on one, 123 will also cover them via st pauls.

Ring back and tell them that you've already bought the car (or placed a deposit on it) and would like a quote.
They'll have to quote you once that know you've paid some money for it.

    Try this place: http://www.travelers.ie

I think that's who my friend used for insurance in an MGTF.

Yeah, but what happens at renewal time? I'd prefer to find an insurer that wants the business before buying the car.

True but I didn't say to go ahead with it, same way I don't recommend actually buying the car before having assurances on insurance! :)
The idea is just to get a quote off Quinn and see where you stand. Will be hard to guage the price of insurance if nobody will quote you!

I had to do this with Quinn going from a 1.3 Colt to a VVTLi Celica.

With that being said, I'm with Travelers (via 123.ie) now and I think they're pretty good.

Hibernian (Aviva) used to be the only company that would insure them but as said, a few others will now. Best to phone too as websites usually turn into retards when anything remotely interesting is attempted.

    Tried 123.ie website
    No quote

Thank you. Unfortunately we are unable to offer you a quote at this time.

Will phone a few places later.

Got a quick quote from chill.ie -- didn't bother filling out the details for the full quote as the full quote has always been at least 50% more.

I have an MR2 spyder and had no problem getting reasonable priced insurance from AXA. Was thinking of changing from AXA on both cars this year and even got cheaper quotes. Then had a bus hit me and I was honestly impressed at the level of service from AXA that I was glad I didn't change.Sounds corny - but there you go.

Thats strange, I originally took out the policy on mine with them so it must be recent that they wont quote, maby its the online system being a pain,if your ring your might get one.

Incedently quinn wouldnt quote me for new business on mine either, dearest quote i got was 2200 from wrightway via bestquote.ie, felt like i was going back to 2002!

If you currently have a policy with Quinn then they wont quote on anything with a bit of power unless you've told them that you've bought the car.

Or have you told them that you will be cancelling your policy with them? They usually come round to providing a quote then
