Tyre load rating and GVW ?

ordered my new d-max today

but was told i couldnt have different alloys than the 16" because the tyre load rating on the 16" tyres was required for 50 euro VRT , now i asked what the rating was an he said 115 , i checked and the 18" alloys i wanted had tyres with a 112 rating, the difference is 100kg per tyre , but even the 112 tyres had over 1200kg per tyre rating , was the dealer just trying not to order me alloys or if i changed the alloys myself aftermarket would i be in trouble with customs/ the gards etc..

The back axle on the D-Max is uprated to give it the GVW of 3,450kg so it's possible that the rear axle is rated to carry more than 2,300kg. This website (http://www.blackcircles.com/general/sidewall) says 112 is rated for 1,120kg per tyre which may be less than the rear axle rating on the D-Max.

I'm not sure whether you would be in trouble if stopped with 112 rated tyres as it's unlikely anyone stopping you will know the ins and outs of the axle rating and the tyre load index, but you will need the correct tyre rating for the DOE.
