    The three locations are:

    - Con Colbert Road heading eastbound, just before the junction with the South Circular Road.

    - On Queen Street heading southbound, just before the junction with Benburb Street.

    - On Blackhall Place heading southbound, prior to junction with Benburb Street.

It is expected the cameras will be in place before the end of the year, with funding coming from the National Transport Authority through the RPA

No skin off my nose, and I drive through at least one of those junctions daily.

I always see more accidents Westbound there, East bounds seems ok?

East bound (towards City centre) is always a mess during busy times. Traffic towards town fills yellow box and blocks South Circular traffic.

But you can block the yellow box without running the red.

Oh completely, I'm not advocating that, but a red light camera won't help that situation.

I'm assuming its a ANPR system similar to London city centre. In that case they can track cars parked in Yellow Boxs and issue fines based on the reg the same as the red light breakers.

I hope these will also monitor cyclists, although I'd be very doubtful.

These are all over london and they really do work at stopping numpties from blocking junctions....

If only they had just not done crap like this:

The cyclists with number plates is it?

I have regularly seen some chavs (it is london after all) who have mastered the trick of sticking one leg around the back of their mopeds while zooming past speed cameras with their foot/leg obscuring their plates.... Thought it was me one time but then saw one tear past in the bus lane just sitting down.

On the Con Colbert Road - South Circular Road junction?

I think it was like one of the only ones in the city? Hmm... maybe I'm thinking of the wrong junction (the island bridge junction??).

Pity these werent on every junction durign the snow. It took me nearly 4 hours to cross Dublin city becuase of every idiot at every junction was pulling across it as a result of some fear that if they stopped at the lights as normal instead of 20 feet forward in the middle they somehow would never get home.

If everyone had just driven normally but slower there would have been no issues, Obviously it would have taken longer to get everywhere than on a normal day but nowhere near 5 or 6 times as long like it took because of these people.

I don't have a problem with cameras there but seems a waste as I drive there most days and I don't think I ever see drivers going through red lights as the Luas runs through...

The junction between Kevin and Patricks street would be a prime location.

everyone on the luas can sue for whiplash after a collision.
