    Hang up next time.

ALternatively leave the line open and let them run up a huge bill.

ive gotten a few of them over the past few weeks, its probs a scam where you call back at a huge premium rate and end up paying 7-8e for a minute.

Well +44 usually means its UK caller. But the rest of the number. 123456..?? THats odd. Not sure about UK landlines... but Irish ones only have 5 digits.

    DO NOT RING IT BACK!!!

I once got a missed call from a strange number. I googled it and it was a widely reported scam. Basically they call you and hang up. You call it back and it answers, but goes straight to a recording of a ringing tone. It's a premium rate number and you're getting charged a fortune for it.

Not saying that's what it is. But if it's someone trying to get a hold of you they wouldn't be hanging up.

Reminds me of the time I got chatting to a bird on a night out a few years back, and she asked me for my number as I was leaving the pub. I didn't have any interest in meeting up with her, so I told her it was 087 123 45 67 8. I broke it up into a long drawn out sequence, as opposed to rattling of 1234.....

I did well to hold in the giggles as I was leaving. :p

I don't think any premium rates can charge over something like 2 or 3 euro a minute. And if its a number like +44 and the digits following its prob not a premium no. they usually start with 4 digits like 1550, and then 6 more digits.

Are you sure? It's relatively easy to spoof caller IDs. The +44 is the country code prefix; 123456 is just a lazy spoof, I would guess.
