Too many Car Boot sales?

I had the misfortune to attend a local car boot sale on Bank Holiday Monday - I won't name the venue. It was in a poor location but one that has been used by a number of different charities for the same purpose in recent months. I arrived at 12.30 (it supposedly started at 9.30am) and there were only about 5 sellers with the usual assortment of smelly teddies, dirty plastic and charity shop leftovers. The sale was in an area only a short distance from well established, busy car boot venues at Inch (nr.Gorey) and Un-Yoke (nr.Wexford) and, in my opinion, a complete waste of time for vendors, buyers and even the charities running the event. Car Boot sales are a good way to raise money but they need to be clearly thought out, well located, well marketed and with a number of vendors committed to turning up or they will kill the goose that lays the golden egg. I don't know how often I've read reports of yet another disappointing sale - please organisers cop yourselves on before you wreck the market for car boot sales in this area. :(
