Too much to be honest based on my few weeks using it! Ended up going back to Sages Accounts Production

i recall it is 1500. But it was far too restrictive for my liking whereas sage has no restrictions at all. Opted for Viztopia/CCH in the end

as far as i know the subscriptions are cheaper than sage. i've been using for just over 6 months and the restrictions are one of the best features if you are interested in compliance. may take a little longer at first but worth it

    Hi

Compliance is indeed a very important point with me. This is the reason that i didnt like SAGE as it is far too easy for a junior to alter the pages and generate a mess. This is why I did not opt for SAGE.

CCH on the other hand has a standard master page format which should be compliant and is updated regularly by CCH. You can then make the note client specific or revert back to the master pages as easily as you wish. For example you can make it that only managers have the right to make a page client specific. So it can be made as restrictive as you want.

Every set of accounts is different and just because you want to change something to make the accounts more useful does not mean your accounts are not compliant. You are quite at liberty to overdisclose if you wish. For some types of companies this is almost a necessity.

I believe relate does not allow you to even change the make up of a note. You must export it to word and make the changes there. This just seemed silly and far too restrictive.

    Kind regards

    Thanks dbran,

I agree that overdisclosure is a must for some clients but I don’t think the restrictions on relate are as limited as you state and it is not correct to say that the accounts have to be exported to Word to make changes to the notes. Text boxes can be inserted to any note and where legitimate variation is possible without compromising compliance, you change entries in the notes from given defaults. Furthermore, the original defaults can be recovered and is it flagged where those changes have been made. Also, additional user-defined notes can be produced and positioned appropriately.

I do think the advantage is the built-in control and how it retains control of the compliance, while at the same time giving this sort of flexibility.

    Cheers,

    smk

The reason I changed over to Relate from Sage was because there was far too much editing to be done. Each set of accounts had to be edited and underlined and highlighted etc, and although you can edit the master dataset, every time there is an updated version all the changes made are lost.
