Anyone hear about the attempted screwdriver attack by a player at the end of a Minor game in Cavan on Monday? Player got sent off then attempted to exact retribution at the end of the game, only to be apprehended and have the weapon taken off him by a spectator. The referee, a Garda, had to put one lad up against the wall…

Player got sent off then attempted to exact retribution at the end of the game, only to be apprehended and have the weapon taken off him by a spectator. The referee, a Garda, had to put one lad up against the wall and frisk for a weapon which, unsurprisingly, was not found!

No link, only eye-witness reports.

It does look like efforts are being made to keep it quiet, but one (or two) of the perpetrators have been issued with life-time bans by their club (allegedly).
