Picture freezing and jumping on Terrestrial Channels

    Hi,

I have a combo Terrestrial/Satellite box, and am based in Dublin 4 getting digital terrestrial reception from Three Rock with an aerial in the attic.

Typically my receiver shows 97% Strength and 97% Quality, but occasionally (usually a few times per hour making it unwatchable, but sometimes very rarely) and sometimes continuously for a few minutes I get dips in Quality and the picture freezes or jumps with audio affected also.

    Is anyone seeing similar issues?

Is it the box or could there be some issue with interference, and if so, from what?

I see no evidence of electrical interference when watching analog channels with the TV tuner when this problem is occurring.
I also see no issues with Satellite channel watching.

    Thanks,
    John

It's possible the signal is too strong and is overloading the box.

Hi SRB, thanks for your response.

I dont think so. There is no amplifier on the aerial, and if I split the signal before the box to use as an input to television also, the Strength decreases to about 87% but the problem remains.

    Hi there

I have noticed something similar in the last few days from Mullaghanish. Was fine previously though so I'm presuming it's something changed with the transmission rather than a problem on my side.

i'm also getting this prob from spur hill.

Haven't it from mulla, but that is a weaker signal for me and proof to break up anyway

I am getting the same thing (pixelation and freezing) from Three Rock over the past week or so.
I have line of sight with signal strength of 10/10 and signal quality of 9/10 using 'rabbits ears' aerial.

I have been getting pixelation intermittently, a couple of seconds every 20ish minutes. Assumed it was something to do with the transmission signal or the combo box.

Saw your post, turned down the amplication on the booster box to the lowest setting, and problem gone.

    Thanks very much
