    Hi,

I'm looking to get someone an activity present of some description for something fun to do in Longford. I'm thinking along the lines of a cookery class or a kayak lesson, that sort of thing ... anyway, not knowing longford at all I am a bit stuck, could people who know the area or know places offering activities of sorts please throw some suggestions? Thanks.

I had thought about sending them for a relaxing massage perhaps either ... any recommendations on places?

    Check this out !! http://abbeyshruleaerodrome.com/.
Go for a flying lesson or maybe just a tour around with a pilot if possible.

I was never up in one of the planes, just saw the air strip from the road and planes going around my house. Superb views i'd say.

    Hi there,

There is a really good go kart track and paintball facility in Edgeworthstown, if its a bit of thrill seeking fun you are after.
Ive been for a lesson in Abbeyshrule....unreal, cannot recommend high enough! The pilots are really nice too!

    Good luck

http://www.ultraflight.ie/ - excellent flying school based at Abbeyshrule run by a man called Matt Tormey. Really nice guy and his staff are sound too.

http://www.longfordairsoft.com/ - Midlands Airsoft Club are based in County Longford (forget the exact location). You have to join up first, though, as they don't allow random visitors. Haven't tried airsoft but if I had the time I definately would!

If it's massage/beauty treatment you're after, Ward's Pharmacy in Longford town has a day spa upstairs that I've only heard good things about...

hiya - this might be a bit late but when i used be driving through ballymahon there were loads of signs last summer for kayak lessons. other stuff you could try is the sub aqua club - they have a try dive evening once a year in the pool in longford - i met one of them once about something else and ended up talking about it - they seem so sound!

Does anyone else think this would make a good sticky, Theres obviously loads that can be added but I'm sure lots of people look at this forum looking for ideas of things to do in Longford. This could be a good starting point for these people and God knows Longford can do with all the help it can get in attracting people to the County.

The abbeyshrule aerdrome above link is dead.

I play flight sim - Microsoft Flight Simulator X and don't care for the real thing.

I pass through Longford about 6 times a year going forward and back from Dublin to Mayo/Sligo - Ballina/Enniscrone
