Need an artist for marriage proposal plan!

I've posted details of my marriage proposal plan over on this thread on the Art forum but haven't received any suggestions yet so I'm hoping someone on here might be able to help.

That thread has full details of the plan, but it boils down to us getting our portrait painted in our favourite spot in Paris (Place du Terte in Montmarte) and then when I ask the painter after a few minutes to show us how it's looking, he/she turns it round and it's actually a pre-painted painting of me on my knee proposing to her in that spot and.....well, ya know the rest :D

Any tips for a painter that might suit are much appreciated as I'm not sure where to start. Thanks!

That is a beautiful idea, one of the most imaginative proposals I have heard of, if you get sorted please please let us know how it goes.

It might not be what you're looking for but I've gotten a couple of "gentle" caricatures done by dimpleart over the last couple of months and I've been really surprised by the quality for just a couple of quid and they have been really good and adding in little details that I requested.

Sorry, I have no helpful suggestions, I just wanted to say that sounds incredibly romantic.
Your gf is a very lucky woman.
    Best of luck with it.

There's a guy who does sketches in Stephen's Green shopping centre. I think he does them from photos so might be worth a look. I've never dealt with him so this isn't a recommendation, just a suggestion.

    Good luck with the search.

    Thats lovely.
Have you thought about going to one of the Art colleges? One of the students may be willing to do it for you...

I just wanted to follow-up on this thread to say it all went according to plan and best of all - she said YES!

Morgan Ferriter (http://www.morganferriter.com/) created what I can only describe as a fantastic painting of the exact scene with me on my knee proposing to my fiancee in the bottom right hand corner of the scene. I can't recommend Morgan highly enough - a pleasure to work with and the quality of his work was excellent.

I went for a slightly different approach: I arranged in advance for an artist that has a stand in that exact spot (the square is full of painters displaying their paintings) for her to have our painting on display. I then went and met my girlfriend (had told her I was on a business meeting) and brought her to the square. It's our favourite spot in Paris so I suggested that we buy a painting to remember it by. The painting is large so she instantly recognised the scene when I brought her to that stand as it was of the exact scene right before us....except for the two figures in the corner.

I dropped to my knee and Morgan's accurate depiction and the fact I was wearing the same shirt and trousers as in the painting helped my girlfriend to put two and two together quite quickly and when I whipped the ring from my pocket she was so busy trying to jam her finger into it she forgot to say yes....but she did after a few seconds much to my relief - there were loads of people around us looking on and waiting to hear her response!

Thanks for the words of encouragement beforehand - there was a lot of planning that went into it (and the other surprises I had lined up for that day!) and at times I worried it mightn't come together but it was all entirely worth it: my fiancee was blown over by it and we now have a moment and an heirloom we'll never forget :D. And this is only the beginning!

I used a duplicate Boards.ie account to post this thread as my fiancee and several people I know use Boards regularly (because I never shut up telling them how great it is) and I couldn't take the risk of them stumbling across the thread (however slim the chances). Hope the mods don't mind - will close the duplicate account now.
