Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone who is studying this course has any information about it and/or if they would recommend it. Cheers, Paul

No info on the course but the aviation industry was hit hard during the recession with many jobs lost all over europe. Immensely difficult to find a job as a pilot. Also note that the flying training part of the course will cost you around €100,000 which there is no grant for and you will not be guaranteed a job so just bare that in mind. Dont believe the spiel from the flying schools about employment prospects because its all bull and only intended to clam your fears to hand over the money.

It's a new course coming in next year so nobody will be able to tell you much about it apart from what's on the website/on the leaflets.

    I looked at it.

It sorta depends, do you want to be a pilot or involved in other areas?

If you wanna be a pilot, check your eyes now;) dont wanna hit that little speed bump few years down the line

If you are interested in becoming a pilot, remember that all licenses are not sponsored by DCU, you have to either pay for it or apply for loan. Price is about 80k. Check course .pdf .

Wouldn't be too interested in becoming a pilot to tell the truth. But other areas of aviation, particularly as an air traffic controller. I understand the stress levels with this job, but that doesn't dishearten me.

I've always had a big interest in aircraft. Another job that would interest me would be an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. I applied for an apprenticeship in the air corps when I was 16, (as an aircraft mechanic) did the fitness and aptitude tests.

Got the interview, first interview of my life siting in a big hall on a little stool with 3 big army men in their apparel staring down at me. Very intimidating. Needless to say I didn't get the job lol

Anyway would this course be relevant to ATC or AMT jobs?

    Thanks, Paul

University of Limerick has a degree aimed at aviation mechanic/maintenance/design as far as I know.
