Purchase of Ex Demo TV: is it sensible?

I am considering a Phillips 9000 series 47" tv ( see other posting http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055901297) as it's end of line, but suits our room well.

But on reflection something that has been powered on for 8 hours a day for 4 or 5 months, 7 days a week is probably equivilant to a few years normal home use. (1000 hours every 4 months)

On reflection the price would need to be seriously discounted.

    Any views.

I personally would not, but that is just me. Although I am sure you will get a warranty of sorts the experience I have of ex demo stock is that they have a habit of breaking sooner than expected.
