    Hi,

Can anyone recommend someone that will call to my house to install a satellite dish in my house? I just got a new TV (with internal satellite receiver) and i'd like to watch some of the free to air satellite channels such as bbc.

    thanks

saw those but I was looking for personal recommendation before getting someone to come to my home. stickies aren't any improvement on the golden pages unless there are testimonials?

Thats a fair point but you could go on the particular suppliers websites and check the testimonials on the site. I hear what you are saying though, you would like someone to recommend a particular supplier they have used.

getting quotes of between 150 and 200. didn't realise it was that expensive. what are we talking about here? 20 minutes?

Even the worst installer can not do it in 20 mins , a good quality install can take two hours on average and you also have to factor in travelling time, public liability insurance and all the other costs that a good competent installer would incur. Also bear in mind that vat is/should be included. When you get quotes you should ask what type of cable is supplied ie TX100 or RG6

good point Tony...have only heard of bog standard co-ax and RG6 etal...

TX100 is cable made bt triax with double copper shielding and low loss . The 100 refers to the diameter of the copper centre. There are many other cables just as good like ph100 which b and q sell. What you should look for is CAI approved cable, a little more expensive but can save lots of hassle down the road.
