    Hi

How do I go about the above & how much does it cost?
I sell services and would like to take a some sort of payment online?
What is the cheapest/best way to go about it?
Gave paypal a thought but I think more people would have a Laser card?

realex seems to be fairly good. Visit their site.
You'll need a merchant account from a bank also.

Banks often want some online trading history before they will consider signing you up for an Internet merchant Account, you might want to consider paypal or similar initially to demonstrate the turnover, it is also a cheap option for testing the market

You need both a merchant account and a processor to take payments online. Check out WebPayments.ie cause its got loads of great info.

Merchant Accounts are the banking side, the good ones for online businesses are Elavon and Ulster bank, I've had awful experience with AIB merchants so would strongly recommend against them.

Processors - Worldnet tps would probably be the most suitable in your service situation. The reason I say this is they have a new iPhone app which can turn your iPhone into a card processing terminal, great for onsite upsells for people doing services.

Also there is Realex and Sagepay, both excellent. I have contacts for most of the above if you want them PM me.

I'd talk to Lucey Technology first and see if their system suits you. - I'm implementing it onto a website that is based in Dublin region, but the webstore is Northern Ireland specific.

As you cannot get a sterling terminal down south, the lucey system sorts out a problem. - If its works as well as they say, other sites I manage will be transferred into their system.

There's certainly less hoops to jump through, though if you have a good banking relationship it should be easy enough to get physical terminal installed from your bank.

    Hi

Paypal don't process Laser Cards and have no idea when they will be able to.

You could also check out Sage Pay.

It will allow you to take credit card and laser card payments over the phone and via your website.

The cost for moto only is €15 a month or €25 a month for ecommerce and moto. Included free with this charge are 300 transactions a quarter for the €15 option and 1000 transactions a quarter for the €25 option - there are no extra charges for these transactions.

Any transactions over the free number per quarter are charged at just 15 cent a transaction.

Sagepay includes 3D secure and the third man and is integrated with Sage software.

When comparing options I would check out how many transactions (if any) you get included in your monthly/quarterly fee.

If you are going to take payment on your website.

First thing you do is contact your bank. Ask them about setting up a merchant account. If they will give you one, then you can start looking at the options mentioned above. Otherwise its only paypal or the like.

You will definately need a merchant account so contact your bank about this.

when comparing providers don't just look at the rate - look at the monthly / quarterly fee, the setup fee, cost per transaction, how many transactions if any are included in your monthly fee, what cards can you recieve payment from.
Also some providers will have different rates if you only need to take payment over the phone as opposed to over the phone and via your website
