Hi folk...when I am driving this van which is an automatic, it sounds like it is trying to change gears and/or slipping gears and makes for some serious uncomfortable driving...the van was recently serviced, the mechanic claims he cant find anything wrong with it and he claims he changed the transmission oil...really worried now....what is the next step? thanks in advance!

Firstly, Check the A/T fluid when the engine is running. Dipstick will have 2 different lines, Hot/Cold for the correct level when fluid is either hot/cold.

    If OK, find out
    a) Was it a 2 litre "refreshment" or a complete fluid replacement (could be 10-15 liters in the box)
    b) Find out what Spec fluid was used - Yes, there are different types out there, Ordinary gearbox oil IS NOT SUITABLE

What colour is the ATF? How does it smell?

It should be cherry/pinkish and smells kind of "sweet". If it's brown/black and smells "mechanical" there's your problem.

I have the same model van, same year 2.5 t.d auto box.
There is a filter in the sump of the gearbox which clogs up, it needs to be replaced with the oil change, doubt your mechanic did that as it has to be ordered from UK.
