Medical Card and VHI

    Folks,

I currently hold a Medical card but I am eligible for VHI with my job. The scheme actually has excellent cover, and I am wondering does having any form of health insurance exclude you from eligibility for the MC.

I think I read somewhere on Boards that this was ok, my problem lies in the fact that my job would pay the cost of the health cover to me as part of my monthly salary. This would almost certainly push my earnings past the threshold for the MC.

How would this work? Would furnishing proof that the money is for health cover still entitle me to the MC? Or would social welfare try and say I am not elible for both?

    Any advice?
