    Hi there,
Looking at bike to work scheme and have looked at bikes like Specialized Sirrus or Giant Rapid / CRS.

I'm bit confused what to look out for wrt to sizing. Differnt bikes have their respective sizing charts. However the bike shops seem to be quite happy to deviate from those.. (up or down)

I know general advise is to test ride the bikes.
So I'm just curious - how do I know whether a bike is too big?

    TIA,
    /WD

It depends on your height and type of bike. AFAIK the Sirrus is a hybrid so check out the table

The bike will feel unwieldy. You will probably feel overstretched and unable to bend your arms comfortably. On a bike with a horizontal top tube you will have insufficient crotch clearance to stand with both feet flat (this issue is irrelevant to actual cycling, but is an indicator that the frame may be too big).

Thanks. that's the sort of info I was hoping for.
I'm 6 foot. (183cm). When riding an L Rapid and an L and XL CRS.
I felt the seating on the XL CRS was more "comfortable" than the L which felt a bit upright. The XL didn't feel unwieldy, but i felt "wobbly" going into turns. but maybe that was down to 28mm tires on the XL vs 32mm on the L.

@jaqian: yes, I have seen the various sizing charts. I was just confused that in different bike shops ppl show you one bike say an L Rapid, but mention that it might be too big for you, but then a CRS in XL is supposed to be ok as well... I know all bikes have different geometry, but someone suggesting an M for one bike model and XL for another (of the same manufacturer) sounded a bit wide of a range to me - but maybe not.

But how do I know its "Perfect"? from doing a few rounds on a parking lot, I'm not sure how to tell whether its perfect...
