Have you installed Citrix on a server and messed around with it?

dont waste your time. They asked 1 question on Citrix and that was which port IMA service runs on

i dont know how many times i have to say this but its a general networking test - not just citrix. you wont be expected to be a citrix expert- they will train you on their products

    Just for records,

I have been on this Interview and:

    a) the person who invite me was not ready when I came in ( I was driving from Tralee to Dublin!!) He said I am on a wrong day!! I needed to print to him his email to proved him wrong.

    b) I was told same day that this position is no longer available

    c) I was given a choice: do a Microsoft Server instead of Network Eng. test or go back to Tralee...

Not even quite professional attitude from Citrix person who was dealing with me.

well, you don't want any advice from me, I failed :)

To be honest with you, I don't think it's a test you can study for - it's too broad. I can't remember the questions but they covered a wide range of topics about protocols like tftp, udc, things like asking what multiplexing is for etc. I would say if you know the stuff you'll find it easy, if you don't, you'll be like me. The guys were very nice and they don't mark it in front of you, so it wasn't as cringey as I feared.

I did a Linux test, expect a wide range of Linux questions at a shallow level. If you done any work as a Linux system administrator you should find it easy.

I took this test just the other day, along with a series of interviews afterwards. It was much more difficult than I expected, more so the technical interview than the exam. The role I was going for was for the XenMobile team, which is primarily Windows Server, Exchange and AD based. Some of the questions I had were as follows:
    • Write out the SQL Code required to output the contents of a SQL table
    • How many disks can be lost in a RAID 5 array before any data loss occurs.
    • Explain why a 32-bit processer can handle a maximum of 4GB of ram. How could this be overcome.
    • Explain and draw the TCP Handshake Process.
    • What is SSL and how does it work.
Other questions related to Blue Screen/STOP codes, Group Policy Inheritance, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.

The main thing to do is be prepared for the technical interview. You need to know how to handle problem diagnosis from a 3rd level support perspective. My first question relating to AD was about FSMO roles, which isn't something you'd encounter on a regular basis.

Personally I won't get a call back, but I know I am not at the level they are looking for yet. I am happy where I am currently, just wanted to get a feel for the place and the role, as if I really liked it, I would have considered moving.

Working mostly as a Sys Admin for the last two years, previously in Help Desk and 1st line support. To be honest, for these roles they are looking for people who know Windows Server (2008 R2 in particular) inside out from what I gathered speaking to the lead engineer. Not a level at which I am at right now.

I did this very 90min technical test. Went ok'ish. Just got called back for 2nd interview to meet Team Lead (the role is Escalation Engineer). Can anyone give any sort of indication of the technical questions to expect?

Some of the questions I can remember from yesterday for anybody sitting the 90min exam:

    What is ARP?
Ntuser.dat, pagefile and hosts file - describe what they are?
What is a thread and a process?
Describe DNS and DHCP and how would a device know its dhcp and dns servers?
What is the path environment variable used for?
Explain 4gb limit of 32bit OS. What is a workaround?
Roaming profiles. What are they? How are they configured? Also a mention of mandatory profiles in this question?
User from ouX logs into a server in ouY. Which policy is applied?
Basic SQL statement to query table.
    Describe TCP handshake process?
