Is €3700 too much to pay for a 02 ford mondeo. Its a 1.8 petrol saloon with 64,000 miles on it and nct'd to July 2012. It's for sale at a dealers.
    All opinions welcome.

Way too much considering this is a year younger for similar money:

Is the €3700 the deal price or the asking price ?

Thanks for your reply bazz. Although the one in the link is a year younger the mileage is similar. In your opinion would mileage or age be more important. What would be a reasonable offer to make for it.

ive seen a 04 diesel mondeo going for around 4,000 so thats way too much for a 02 petrol, have a good look around before you decide

Asking price I'm trying to get an opinion on what a reasonable offer would be.

    id offer 3,000 max

I've said this alot but mileage is not an accurate indication of wear. A car with low mileage could have been driven hard and never serviced as opposed to a higher mileage car could have spent most of it's life driving on motorways and serviced on schedule. 67k miles is well below average for either a 03 or 02 car, check the condition of the car and check the service history with the garages that serviced it.

Regarding price well the 03 I showed you is one of the lowest priced of it's kind so I'm not sure how low the dealer can let it go for but if I was to make them a sensible offer it would probably start off at €3300 and do the deal at €3500.

Yeah thats a good point about mileage and servicing. Only saw it on the lot today so I dont know the story regarding service history.

I'd go for the Zetec model over the LX, it has more standard kit than the basic LX, plus the 1.8 Zetec has 125bhp as opposed to the 1.8 LX which only has 110bhp.

In Sept 09, the old man traded in his 2002 1.8 Petrol Zetec (55k miles on the clock) against an 08 Diesel mondeo. The garage gave him 5000 for the old mondeo. Well they gave him 5000 off the €24.5k deal with the trade in to be exact.

    Anyways, just sayin!
