How do I change gear on a Trek 1.5?

    this is proberly the dumbest question i will ever ask.

    I bought a new bike to day a trek 1.5. 1st time i've gone with a racers. how do you change the gears on it. there is a leaver but it seems to only go one way.

    There is a little thumb lever on the inside of the grippy area called the hood. That is the little tab/button you are looking for. You can see it sticking out the side here!

    i had a look at "the hood aint there. trek seem to have some other way to do it on the 1.5

    It's probably the whole brake lever. Push it inwards.

    OK, then it probably has the other style Shimano shifters. Press the paddle inwards to shift up into a bigger gear and press the break lever itself inwards to shift down.

    yeah the entire break was a lever

    Yep, 1.5 is Tiagra. Its the full brake lever shifters.
