    Hi,

I couldn't make sense of information on citizen's information in relation to this.

I'm wondering how much my DA would reduce if I decide to take up work for summer merely to gain experience for what I'm studying?

    Thanks in advance :D

How much would you be earning per week?

I was unable to work because I was at boarding school for the deaf at time and can't work when I'm at college because I have to spend more time studying etc due to lack of understanding in lectures whereas people can learn stuff immediately listening.
And there is speech therapy programme to try and wake up the area of my brain which shut down which takes up a lot of time as well.
But I'll have more free time during summer.

don't forget that your earnings may affect your medical card and rent allowance.

Yeah I'm aware of that

But what I want to know is how much would it go the more I earn? Say every €1 for €5 etc

"For Disability Allowance and Blind Pension, earnings up to €120 from rehabilitative type work are not taken into account in the assessment of means.

If your earnings from rehabilitative work is above €120 per week, 50% of your earnings between €120 and €350 will not be taken into account in the Disability Allowance or Blind Pension means test.

However, all earnings over €350 will be assessed as income and your entitlement to Disability Allowance will be reduced in line with the appropriate reduced rates of payment for Disability Allowance. If you have no other means, the maximum amount you can earn is €430 (2010) and still keep an entitlement to the minimum payment of €3.50 (2010)."

You say that you will be earning about 220, well the first 120 are not taken into account, which leaves 100. 50% of this is not taken into account, leaving your means as €50 p/w.
