Door Saddles

    Opinions please,

    My builder asked me was i having them, but i wasnt aware i had a choice.

    he said he hates them, but its up to me. .

    Im planning on having tiles/carpets, so can join carpet to tile and carpet to a different carpet. . ?

    also opinions as to the best way to go, saddles are a bit dirty no?

    the reason for door saddles is to make a minimum gap at the bottom of a door.if for instance you have wooden floors in your house and no door saddle you need a minimum half inch gap so the door wont rub as it opens.this can be undesirable for some people so hence the use of door saddles.hope this helps you

    Not quite.
    The reason for door saddles is to give the a greater tolerances, to maximise the gap and prevent the door rubbing.
    A door carpenter can work to a smaller tolerance, and no saddle or a mini-saddle.

    As for carpet or tile junctions, a mini saddle can do this
