So it comes upon us and just eleven days away and the international outdoor season gathers pace.

Quick question...anyone know who has the rights to show the events?
I know bbc are showing the gateshead and london meets and as far as i can tell aljazeera have the opening Doha meet. I want to watch all of the Diamond league but just not sure who is covering them yet.
Eurosport will have a few of the Golden Spike meets as per usual but id like t get in whatever channels i need for the forthcoming athletics feast..yum yum!

    Regards

Thank f*** the outdoor athletics season is back, so much better than any other sport.

I hope to be going over to the weltklasse in zurich, it looks like the best one.

Eurosport definitely have a few of them.

IAAF.org lists international TV coverage for Diamond League, which states that in UK, BBC3 will cover "most events LIVE".
I haven't seen anything on BBC website about it however.

BBC will definitely cover the 2 UK DL events, as part of existing deal with UK Athletics. As far as I know BBC and SKY were bidding to cover the other DL events.

:)Thanks for that Dangermouse. Hopefully the Beeb will be covering most of the other events as well (for those of us without Sky /Setanta Sports). It appears to be the case from IAAF site.

Also posted this on 'Athletics on TV' thread.

Good news for armchair athletics fans :) (with the BBC 'Red Button')...

BBC Sport has announced that it will broadcast all 14 events of the new IAAF Diamond League in 2010

The five-year deal began at the weekend on 14 May with the Doha Grand Prix from Qatar which was broadcast live on the Red Button. Included in the Diamond League series are the British Grand Prix and London Grand Prix, key events in BBC Sport's calendar, which will once again be on BBC One and BBC Two.

Four events will be shown live on BBC Three, which will bring athletics to a whole new, younger audience. These are: Paris on 16 June and Stockholm on 6 July and the grand finale events of the series in Zurich on 19 August and Brussels on 27 August. All other events will be broadcast live on the Red Button.

Carl Hicks, BBC Athletics Editor, says: "It's great to be able to add the IAAF Diamond League to our athletics portfolio and is very exciting to be broadcasting on BBC Three to a young and diverse audience. 2010 looks set to be a great year for British athletics with the European Championships and Commonwealth Games taking place. This deal reinforces the BBC's commitment to athletics, and the sport's increasing profile as we build up to London 2012 where it will be a key focal point."

The IAAF Diamond League aims to build the worldwide appeal of athletics, showing the versatility and excitement at the top level of the sport to audiences. There will be two separate finals – one in Zurich and one in Brussels – with each staging 16 different events.
