07 passat problem

Well

I was coming into limerick today on the condell road driving the wifes passat. Its a 2.0 tdi 170 bhp. The traffic was stop start. Anyway i stalled the car in the middle of the road as im not used to driving a manual. She wouldnt start again it just keeps turning and turning. There is a fault on it for the cruise control.

Anyone that can help would be great, no stupid replies please

Best bet would be to a diagnostics reader to read the specific code related to the cruise control.

AFAIK there is an issue with the pre delivery pump on the B6 Passats. When you turn the key to IGN you should hear the system prime itself prior to starting.

There is fuel coming from the tank to the engine allrite

Could be a cam sensor Sarason? I know in the 320d it can affect the car starting, i'm sure its similar for a common rail diesel like yours.

2007 Passat isn't common rail though.

Steering Column Sensor? Not sure what effect it causes, but it's a very common failure.

I was under the impression that the 170 was CR, regardless, its still likely the cam sensor if its getting fuel.

You may get her on VAG Com or something and see if it throws anything up.

It is not necessarily a cam sensor, and in my opinion, that would be unlikely. The car will have a crank sensor too and if the cam sensor were to go down, chances are that the car will run off the crank sensor in limp mode.

The OP was correctly advised earlier to get the car read diagnostically. Apart from looking at stored fault codes, the live data from the fuel rail pressure sensor will be important.

Other possibilities are an immobilser fault or (unlikely) a tripped inertia sensor.

could it be as simple as foot on brake and/or clutch while cranking,lock and unlock doors just incase its an immobiliser problem.....try simple things first,fuel also in case guage is faulty
