First Holiday Advice

    Hey guys,

So I was thinking of going away with my girlfriend this summer on my first holiday abroad. I'm looking for advice on where to go, what hotels etc. because I pretty much know nothing about all this.

Okay so we were looking for a beach holiday in somewhere like Spain. Ideally we would be in a hotel, for 14 days, somewhere quiet to relax (not lots of clubs etc.) but not too hard to travel to the main city. I don't mind getting a package holiday or organising it myself but which is better value? I was thinking because it's my first holiday I would be better off getting a package? Can anyone recommend any travel agents?

I can't drive so we will be relying on public transport to get around. So does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Thanks.

hi riddler, went on my frist holiday last year to salou. great place, portaventrua theme park is located there which is a great way to spend a holiday. we stayed at the festival village which is a little bit outside salou and it was a lovely place with great apartments and lovely staff. the only drawback was that it was a very hilly area and the 5 min walk to the beach was tough on the way back uphill.

i can't say what the nightlife is in salou itself but its an hour by bus to get to barcelona.i read alot of reviews of salou before i went which kinda put me off but we had a great time and i guess people are more likely to post a complaint than a compliment.

we are heading back there tomorrow for a week (flying from belfast so hopefully ash cloud wont be a problem) but this time we are staying in the centre of salou. i can report back next week if you like to let you know what i think or you can search the boards for salou.

my neice works in a travel agent in newry so she made all the arrangements. thomas cook in the quays shopping centre newry if your near there. it can be quite scary going abroad for the frist time so take your time,do some research online and i'm sure you will make a good descision. have fun and let us know how it goes :D
