Can any of you lads recommend me a place that can recondition an alternator, in the south Dublin area (I'd also settle on Wicklow and Kildare areas too). Any idea of prices too?

No exact idea of price but try Almax Auto Electric on Cromwellsfort Road D12. Last I heard 75 euro roughly but it'd probably depend on what it needs doing.

cost depends on make/model and whats wrong with the alternator i.e bearings, reg etc.

    It's a Lucas A133 55amp alternator from a Ford Escort.

It sometimes charges and sometimes not. The light will gradually come on and then go off. Probably the bushes or regulator are fecked.

Just to say that I've used these guys and have had no problems with the alternator since :) I forget how much I paid though but seem to remember it being more than 75
