    Hey lads,

I heard you can pick up fallout 3 2nd hand for cheap somewhere. Had it on the pc but machine wasn't up to spec to enjoy it much. Heard its glitchy as hell on ps3 but willing to give it a go for a tenner. Anyone know where I can get it cheap?

TheHut are selling it for a tenner but would prefer to call into a shop and pick it up.

I tried extravision and they are selling 2nd hand standard edition for 25 (are u joking me!!!!)

    Thanks

You can buy it online from the hut.com or amazon.co.uk for roughly €12, yeah it's still expensive in shops

*sorry I see you checked online already, it's €20 in smyths
    ** try adverts.ie too :)

€12 is a fantastic price for that game. Brilliant.

thanks man. can't believe its 20 new in smyths and 25 2nd in xtravision. xtravision usually on the ball an all.

I saw as well the 5 DLC packs are a tenner each!!!! but you can get the GOTY edition with all packs for roughly 30 euro onine.

Pity red dead and ufc 2010 coming out this month, need this on the cheap

Wouldn't mind picking the special edition with all the expansions up, if I could get it cheap. Anyone know if anywhere is doing it at a decent price?

Guys I wouldnt bother buying the original fallout 3. You should get the Fallout 3 Game of the year addition with 5 add ons including .... The Pitt, ,Anchorage, Broken Steel, Point lookout, and Mothership Zeta, for 30 euro on http://www.thehut.com/games/platforms/ps3/fallout-3-game-of-the-year-edition/10052940.html

I saw that alright, is a great deal seeing as each DLC pack is 10 euro on PSN (50 quid for all the DLC's, not incl game)

I just need something to tide me over till Red Dead in 3 weeks. I won't be playing anything else when that comes out and don't wanna waste money when a tenner for the standard edition would do me. I'm reading people putting 150 hours into this game with the DLC's. That kicks FF7 arse haha

trade in your original fallout and get the GOTY edition man. I think you could get it in town cheap enough as well (ring a few places, get prices) Don't pay a penny on the PSN. tenner each for 5 packs is way too much when there seems to be a big difference between the 5. Steel seems to be most important cuz it raises your level cap, anchorage is spose to be crap, the pitt ok and Point lookout is spose to be class. The internet generally hates the mothership one!

Their all pretty bad to be honest, I just played them because I am a huge F3 fan,but I kinda wish I didn't :(

Yeh I have it on Xbox 360 , and want to get the add ons for the extra achievements and just the pre-longed story and other things. And what do you think I would get for my original fallout 3, more likely a rubbish offer like 3 euro or something? And are the add ons really worth it? And I also have a PS3 and I am getting Red Dead for that for the Free online and my friend is gona get it as-well.

    How glitchy is glitchy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭CombatCow

Fallout 3 is not too bad, just the odd freeze every so often, maybe once every 10 hours ?

All the DLC especially Operation Anchorage have really really bad frame rate issues, and the freezes/crashes are a lot more common, even some quests in "The Pitt" get messed up so you cant complete them. Overall it's a big mess which really detracts from the awesomeness of just the standard game.

Well, I picked it up in HMV for 10.98. I traded in Grid (i paid a tenner for that) and got 6 euro off. I think the girl gave me a brand new disc instead of the 2nd hand copy. Disk, booklet and guide leaflet were all in perfect condition and they were all sealed in orange plastic.

Anyway, game is fantastic. I downloaded patch straight away and havn't noticed any glitches. Just finished Megaton bit, I had key to armory so I took a gander. Robot tried to attack me so I legged it. Now whole town is against me, try to run but keep getting killed. My last auto save puts in front of an angry mob. The other save file puts me back outside Vault 101.

    PIIISSSED OFFFFFF!!!!

I got stuck trying to get out of Vault 101, and I was too impatient I gave up after a couple of tries (I was new to PS3 controller, so it was a struggle). I ended up trading it in for Bayonetta, and now I want it back..!!

Hey positron, get it in hmv right now!!

Where the hell does the time go when you play this game??? Excellent, excellent game!

I think if you go away for a while, maybe a few days (sleep) then come back they will love you again :D

Otherwise, nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

Couldn't even leave megaton, kept getting killed trying to escape. All good tho, reloaded and did it again. Now i am on my way to Rivet City with a pile of side missions already done and bobbleheads collected and just got the Xuolong assualt rifle (best small gun in the game?) Really addictive game. Hadn't much interest in fallout Vegas but this is definitely arousing my...eh interest.

I'd well believe it. If it is anything like Oblivion in terms of length than I'll be quite satisfied indeed :D

I mean that game just felt like it could go on forever.

So is Fallout New Vegas a completely new game then? It's not a DLC pack for 3 is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Be careful with the GOTY version... usually the game gets extremely glitchy when you enter the DLC (extra) content, freezing and so on... i've only played the Anchorage one after roughly 20 hours play.. started freezing a bit after it... to counter it I turned off auto save and signed off the Playstation Network.. I think it helps a bit. Apparently once the save file reaches roughly 12 mb onwards the GOTY version becomes unplayable.. I'm at 5 and a bit so far.. already played through the normal game but it's great going back through it and still exploring new areas!

New game on the same engine from the team who made Fallout 1 and 2 so unless they find the problems with Fallout 3 (a lot of freezing) there will be a lot of the same problems with this on the PS3

Ya, even on the standard version I have, I hate seeing the save file jump in size every time I save! Plus you have to have a few different saves in case you make a mistake and a whole town riles against you or you accidentally kill your dad

Ah yeah I'll watch out for dodgy stuff like that. There was some stuff like that in Oblivion too, kinda expect it when you consider the size of the game. But I'll keep an eye on it.

Just can't wait to get it.
