"Underbelly" Real Life Thug Buried In Gold Coffin.

Fans of the TV show "Underbelly" might be interested to hear that recently one of the characters of the first two series, was buried a day ago.



For those that don't know, "Underbelly" a smash hit TV show (now exported the world over) made in Australia is about the big criminals there. Now in its third series, the show tries to show true life as it really is with corrupt cops and criminals in Australia in the past and possibly presently.

If you get the opportunity to view the shows, its well worth it. Meanwhile, as for Carl:

A notorious Australian criminal has been buried in a gold coffiin that was based on the design used for Michael Jackson's funeral.

Triple murderer Carl Williams was buried on April 30, wearing his favourite pair of jeans, inside the $50,000 Aus (£30,000) gold-plated coffin.
A convicted drug trafficker, Williams died on April 19 after suffering cardiac arrest after being attacked by another inmate in jail.
Williams had been bashed with a part taken from an exercise bike in Barwon Prison, where he was serving a life sentence for the three murders.
Police officers kept watch on the Friday service at St Therese's Catholic Church in Essendon as a mob of spectators watched mourners arrived.

They got it spot on with Grantley. He was probably my favourite character in the whole series too (pity he was actually a real life scumbag), a very believable character. He won a few awards for his performances in Underbelly too....

After finishing "the Wire", I was looking for a good TV recommendation and some people here suggested "Underbelly". I've seen the first 2 eipsode of season1, and to be honest am not too impressed. Reckon it's worth sticking with?

It's worth sticking with on its own merits but not as a replacement for The Wire. I'm not really a Wire fan but there's very little to compare between the two.
