How can we organise one of these??No body allowed mention bad banks, toxic loans the harsh reality faced by private sector staff and how easy the public sector have it, the uselessness of the public sector and how a certain per cent of private sector staff havent taken any pay cut, no talks about strikes, croke park deals, negative equity, NAMA, general election possibilities...Just imagine how nice that would be, how stressfree it would be...i do realize this will never ever happen but still we can dream :D

It would probably be more stress to organise this day than it would be to put up with hearing about banks, NAMA and bad debts etc.

Screw that lets have a national protest against the government making the recession worse day and do something about it instead of hopeing it will go away.

(which it wont if those clowns remain in power)

You do realise that we had had a national "don't mention recession decade" until recently? I doubt one measly day is going to be noticed.

You'd probably want a different name for it to be effective!

organizing a day like this would be way easier if we were not in this damned recession.....

Maybe this would work better as a one-time event. We should try to arrange a big festival, call it "The Recession Rejection" and all the bands would agree to play for free. :D

    "What day is it today?"

"Um, I'm not allowed talk about it."

The whole reason behind this thread being posted is because of the recession. Similarly, a national 'Don't mention the recession day' would be brought about because of the recession. Therefore, one must acknowledge that the recession was an integral part of the existence of a day such as this and must be written as so in the annals of time with accordance to this fact.

Another paradox to this 'Don't mention the recession day' is that if one was to say, "Happy Don't mention the recession day", then the whole point of the day would be flawed as the person just mentioned the recession.

The suggestion of a day like this would ultimately bring about a vicious cycle of events that would bring about someone mentioning the recession and would, quite frankly, be pointless. :(

Am, anyone realise that May day is traditionally national protest day? funny this thread should be started today (when it's too late). Anyone see all the protests in the rest of Europe today? They did it cos they have the balls, we apparently don't.

Why not make your own "Don't mention the recession day". Don't watch the news or listen to the radio. Don't read the news papers, they're full of bad news anyway. If anyone mentions it in conversation rather then feign interest just swiftly change the subject. Avoid reading threads which mention the recession. I do this everyday. You'd be surprised at how effective a preventative measure against depression it is.
