So the pre-Alpha came out a few days ago - who's installed it?

    http://lifehacker.com/5526166/first-look-at-fennec-or-firefox-mobile-on-android

I downloaded it on my Nexus One (it's only available for 2.1) and had a play with it. It's very, very slow. More like pre-pre-nightly-pre-Alpha. It's also probably the biggest Android app I've got so far - 10 MB! Really makes the phone chug. However, it's still quite promising, and I did manage to install an add-on for twitter which was quite a thrill.

You can get the APK here http://bit.ly/fennec-android

I tried it when I first got my Desire. It's promising and seems a good bit better than the stock browser but it's unusuably slow. Pre-alpha is an understatment tbh.

    Opera mini is yer man.
Opera mini is pretty useless for browsing unless you need the data compression (Which I have to say is very good).

Agreed, Opera Mini is poor. Might pass for a browser on a dumbphone but it's not up to scratch on Android.

Agreed on the comments about Opera Mini ....very dissapointing on the android I used to really love it on the SonyEricsson's....Hopefully it will better with a proper release seeing as its still only a beta...

Looking forward to a firefox release for android....think i'll wait for a beta release.

no pinch-zoom on opera mini, right? that pretty much ruins it for me!

Opera Mini is faster, and apparently reduces data load.. However, no proper zoom (you can either be zoomed in or out) and constant problems where text ends up in funny places (as in bad rendering) means I don't use it much..

I use dolphin atm, but will be looking forward to a more stable version of FF mobile before I go and install it...
